Are the Knicks... Good?
It's now November, and New York's basketball team has a winning record, and, wow, expectations really are low around here, aren't they?
Maybe.
It's early, I know. They just lost two in a row, I am aware. It just seemed different when they started 3-1, which was to be fair only a few days ago. The ball moved around. Everyone has been a little more comfortable in their roles. It's all thanks to Jalen Brunson.
Suddenly, Julius Randle doesn't have to be the absolute, number one, main man. Neither does R.J. Barrett. Brunson's facilitation of go-go offense is fun to watch and accompanies… everyone. Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Derrick Rose (who at this point is a backup point guard anyway). Let Evan Fournier cook from beyond the arc, but don't rely on him every game. That's what the kids call ideal.
But are the Knicks good?
