This is the first episode that we’re officially calling the Casual Diehard podcast, as we do a light to moderate rebrand around here. Willets Pen isn’t going anywhere, but it was born as a Mets book project (and still will be one eventually!) and will be our newsletter.
The subway station where the Mets play isn’t a great namesake for a podcast where we talk about all kinds of sports and whatever other tangents we go on. In this episode, for instance, with Britt, Jesse, and special guest Sophie Ross, we’ve got shared sadness for the effective end of the Bengals’ season and Ferrari’s season continuing exactly as it has. Plus, the tie between F1 and Real Housewives, Travis Kelce captains a new all-star team, and we really, truly, sincerely will miss Joe Burrow’s ass.
What you need to know about the change: We’ll keep posting podcast episodes through the Substack player for a little while, but we’re taking the podcast arm of this thing over to Acast, which offers us better tools for podding. We’ll still link from the newsletter to the pod when we have new episodes, but now you’ll be able to get our podcasts through your podcast player of choice (hello, Spotify users!) and we’ll be able to do some other cool stuff like get We Can Pod It Out a dedicated feed. We’ve got a lot of exciting stuff ahead, but if you’ve been here a bit, you know that the style is to kind of figure it out as we go. Can’t wait!
