I had a whole thing that I wanted to write about the start of spring training and emotion and life and so much stuff to go with this episode, but I couldn’t put it together how I wanted, so it’s not happening. Let it be said that I’m so happy to be back podding with this group (I know we’ve had a couple of other episodes along the way, but the last time Addy was on this podcast feed was The Fuckin’ Emma Stone Game.
And that brings us to the replacement content for the thing I didn’t write, as Emma Stone is out and Kate Upton is in, as we discussed on the show. That’s right, it’s time to talk about nudes.
Specifically, Gary Carter, whose 1986 Ivory soap commercial appeared in my YouTube scroll…
That’s a really good commercial! They did a nice job cutting the highlights, the supporting actor looks kinda like Tim Teufel, and Carter was a natural for ads with his effusive demeaor.
But it was something else that struck me. That bathroom tile.
That bathroom tile is so familiar. Why is that bathroom tile so familiar? Where have I seen that bathroom tile, to the extent that I don’t remember that bathroom, but am struck with instant nostalgia?
Zest, like Ivory, is (or was) a Proctor & Gamble product. Did P&G have a shower studio for its ads? How many famous people got in their duhnahduhnahs in that space? Is it still there? Is this the world’s most famous bathroom? Ah, well, Iron Head asked questions better than I do. —JS
